What is the Churn of the Unmade

What is the Churn of the Unmade?  Metamodernist art by JJFBbennett It isn’t just paint; it’s the heavy, exhausting gravity of pure affectation. I applied these deep purples and stark whites with a thick palette knife, wanting you to feel the weight of the medium itself—the messy, chaotic over-saturation of our digital lives, the constant noise. It’s dense, tactile, and completely overwhelming. But  The chaos is interrupted by a line of perfect, unyielding geometry. A clear glass ring slicing straight through the noise. This physical ring stands as the initial boundary of awareness. On one side, the suffocating density of raw human expression and digital noise; on the other, a clean, projected window into an idealised, quiet simplicity.  Where does the noise end, and where does our awareness truly begin? The glass ring doesn't just divide the canvas; it bridges two entirely different eras of the soul.  Look to the left. You see that heavy, anxious abstract expr...

Primary Trade Lane Delta-Nine

Primary Trade Lane Delta-Nine

With a sudden jolt, our battered Subi spacecraft tore free from the gravitational embrace of Rumour Mill Station, the familiar hum of the station fading into the endless expanse of space. BK and I exchanged wide, exhilarated grins; the intoxicating thrill of the open void enveloped us, making our hearts race. We had just navigated a chaotic celestial traffic jam, dodging a massive, star-swallowing cruise ship that loomed ominously in our path.

Our next crucial step lay ahead, and thankfully, Katcha, our genetically enhanced spoodle with extraordinary olfactory sensors, had already charted our path through the cosmos. Our vessel, a Subi Compact—a charming two-seater relic from the days before the Collapse, echoing with stories of old—was primed for a 'Transit & Sightseeing Tour' mission. We were operating under the coveted Level Gamma-7 clearance, granting us permission for a daring detour through the stars.

Katcha created the meticulously detailed itinerary, which twinkled with a sense of adventure. From Rumour Mill Station, they were to glide toward the bustling Primary Trade Lane, then veer off through the treacherous Necropolis Corridor. Their first stop would be the eerie and enigmatic "Where All Machines Must Die," a site steeped in legend and shrouded in mystery. Finally, they would journey to Outpost Aurum, nestled within the colossal embrace of The Behemoth Asteroid, a monument of cosmic wonder.

The entire cosmic adventure, filled with the excitement of exploration and discovery, was priced at just 127 Cycles. It was a great deal, especially with Katcha’s careful planning leading them through the celestial maze ahead. Little did they realise that what lay beyond would require more than Katcha’s persuasive skills.

Now well and truly past the tourist ships, our Subi hummed with renewed purpose as we plotted a way to the back scars of the Primary Trade Lane Delta-Nine.

Even from a distance, the Trade Lane was an overwhelming spectacle. It wasn't just a lane; it was a river of light, a cosmic artery pulsating with the sheer volume of interstellar commerce. Massive container freight ships, each a monolithic block of burnished metal, drifted in endless, ordered procession. Their colossal cargo bays glowed faintly, hinting at untold riches carried within, while their sheer scale dwarfed our Subi, making our trusty vessel feel like a speck in the wake of giants.

As we approached the merging point, a new notification flashed across the Subi's ancient display. A dry, automated voice crackled over the comms, "Attention, incoming vessel. Due to unprecedented traffic density on Primary Trade Lane Delta-Nine, a temporary congestion surcharge of 95 cycles is now required for entry." My jaw tightened, and BK sighed, resigned to the unexpected fee. Katcha tilted his iridescent blue head, perhaps recalculating how to navigate through the thousands of space truckers ahead.
