I look down at my chest... and there is no flesh left. No ribs. No heartbeat. Only a collapse. A dark... swirling... singularity. The air in the pod bends around me. The light itself is warping... pulled uncontrollably into the hollow where my soul used to be. I see my fear—those thin, fractured arcs of violet lightning—trying to break free. Into the Neon Night

Seeking Refuge in the City that Never Sleeps My memories of that neon-soaked night are a strange mix of vivid and haze. The city, a labyrinth of fluorescent dreams, pulsated in a spectrum of electric hues, a sight that usually kept me awake. But that night, the lights were too bright, and I yearned for the sweet release of oblivion, a sign of my emotional exhaustion. The face in the mirror is a blur, bathed in a pink and purple glow, almost ethereal. Eyes that have seen too much, too quickly, now seeking refuge behind closed lids. It's a curious thing, this exhaustion that cuts through the neon façade, slicing through the cacophony of slot machines and raucous laughter. It's a paradox of the electrified nightlife; even the most drugged-up souls long for darkness, a momentary escape from the relentless barrage of stimuli.
