The art of authenticity

Image
The Struggle for Authenticity in Art I want to speak today about authenticity . And about what we quietly give up to be accepted. We’re told that contemporary political art values autonomy . That artists are free. That inquiry sits at the centre of practice. But autonomy, in reality, is often something we *perform*— not something we’re allowed to exercise. Freedom is celebrated rhetorically, while legitimacy is granted only when work conforms to approved languages , approved theories , approved causes . Autonomy isn’t denied outright. It’s curated. This system doesn’t fail artists by accident. It functions mechanically. It rewards work that aligns with predetermined frameworks and filters out work that doesn’t speak the sanctioned dialect. Many voices are excluded not because they lack skill or meaning, but because they refuse to translate their experience into institutionally legible language. I’m not saying all excluded work is good. I am saying much of it is never heard. And ...

Beyond Speed and Force - The Importance of Adaptability and the Bigger Picture

Lead like a Strategic Gamer

In any competitive situation, whether it’s a game, creating art, leading a new initiative, or facing life’s challenges, wisdom and foresight are more important than speed and force. The most significant victories are achieved by those who can see the bigger picture, adapt to change, and remain patient and courageous under pressure. Wisdom and Foresight: Keys to Success in Any Competitive Situation

Can You Really Game on a Mac Pro?

JJFB Bennett Finds Out—The Hard Way!

🎮 Gaming enthusiasts, Apple die-hards, and digital strategists, brace yourselves! JJFB Bennett, our fearless (and slightly stubborn) content creator, embarked on a noble quest: to prove his gaming prowess to his three sons. Armed with his Apple Mac Pro M2, he envisioned glorious Counter-Strike victories, lightning-fast reflexes, and tactical domination. The reality? A laggy, glitch-filled disaster that made a PowerPoint presentation look fast.

The Counter-Strike Crisis

JJFB’s Apple Mac Pro, usually a high-performance machine, became an uncooperative relic when faced with Counter-Strike. Bullets moved in slow motion, characters teleported randomly, and the game transformed into a slideshow narrated by frustration. It turns out that even the mighty M2 chip can’t save you from MacOS gaming limitations.

A Ray of Hope? Assassin’s Creed and a Long-Awaited Revelation

Decades ago, one of his sons recommended Assassin’s Creed, raving about its historical accuracy. Like any all-knowing dad, JJFB ignored this advice. Now, years later, the memory resurfaced. Maybe—just maybe—his son had a point.

Determined to salvage his gaming aspirations, JJFB turned to the all-knowing digital oracle: ChatGPT. The verdict? Macs are not ideal for gaming. But JJFB, being a “staunch old fella” (read: stubborn), refused to back down.

Enter Parallels: The Pricey Workaround

A new strategy emerged: Parallels, a virtual machine that runs Windows on a Mac. After coughing up some hard-earned cash, JJFB was greeted with… a massive watermark. Windows wasn’t activated. More money was needed. The rage boiled. Was it worth another $303 to fight this ridiculous battle?

What’s Next? Steam, More Chaos, or Total Defeat?

The journey isn’t over! Will JJFB conquer his Mac’s limitations and finally download Steam? Or will the absurdity of running Windows on Mac claim another victim?
