Embers over the Billabong

  Embers over the Billabong Deeper into the scrub, darkness thickens, steeped in a heavy, ember-red glow. Overhead, the canopy dissolves into silhouettes, twisted paperbark and gum branches clawing through an atmosphere that smoulders with charcoal grit and iron dust. Then, the bush yields to water. Nestled in the basin of the scrub, a still billabong collects the night in an entirely different register. While the air above blazes raw crimson, the surface below gathers cool, luminous pools of cobalt, indigo, and shattered violet. For a moment, the outback’s heat seems suspended. There is only the quiet breathing of timber, the mirrored water holding the dark, and ancient country resting at the threshold between fire and stone. Path of the Dragon

As the sun rose in the morning, I took a peaceful walk along a winding path in my tropical garden. The air was filled with the distant calls of birds, creating a natural symphony. The path was lined with lush plants and flowering shrubs, inviting me deeper into this enchanting world, where every step felt like an adventure into the unknown.


Suddenly, my peaceful walk was interrupted by a gigantic Komodo dragon. The dragon was basking in the sun right on my path. Its scaly skin shone in the sunlight, and its sharp eyes watched me intently. Although the dragon didn't seem to care about my presence, I couldn't continue my journey. This exciting and humbling encounter reminded me of long-lost memories of raw beauty and unpredictability.
