Introduction of a new method, idea and or system into a comfort zone creates anxiety, stress and fear. Sameness is safe, is effortless and is comfortable.

Art Books must embrace 21st Century Technologies
Q. What happened to post modernism?
A. It became Culture Calvinist.
Q. What has General Motors and Art got in common?

I could have been PM.
I wanted to be PM.
Unfulfilled ambition some say.
End of a dream some say.
Some say a lot about could have beens. What if I had of challenged Howard? What if I Howard had of stepped down? What if I had of snatch leadership. What if I was the victor? What if I was the PM of Australia. I lead Australia through crisis and through crisis. I lead Australia out of debt. That is no debt. That is leadership. You can insult me, but you will never understand my paradox. I am the good… Continue

WE NEED A SENSE OF BALANCE
Why is creativity taken out of productivity? Why is innovation taken out of teaching? Why are schools not helping students to make meaning of their skills? If public education is to provide only the 3 Rs - to enable a functioning society - is education providing a hand-break on society?
'Education systems too narrow': Sir Ken Robinson:

Back doesn't change workplaces that often. His power is in his immediate workplace experience. When required Back gets into another workplace via association. Someone in power always owes Back. Back has a network of power friends. When in a tight situation Back can rely on 'the friends'. Back has more enemies than friends, however the enemies are disorganized as a network of power, they change positions and they know that they cannot contest Back without bullet proof evidence.… Continue

What to do with a poor quality teacher.
“a lot of people who have been hired as teachers are basically not competent.” Al Shanker
There is no doubt that the most important element to a child's learning experience is the teacher. Great teachers have an impact on the child's academic achievement. A great teacher will ensure the learning experience is a quality learning experience. Great teachers can only survive in schools which have great leaders. Great leaders enable leadership and innovation.… Continue

Anzac Day supports our continual efforts of invasion.
ANZAC Day has ceased to be a day where we commit to 'never again'. Anzac Day has become a shallow glorification of Australia's capacity to make war. It is a celebration of Australia's capacity of invasion. In contemporary multicultural Australia Anzac Day is appearing as the last stand of our mono-cultural past.
ANZAC Day shoul… Continue

Bill Henson is innocence
I recently received an Art Monthly (Australia) April 2009 edition as a present. Whilst in the past I collected and read such publications avidly I now read them only by chance. Interestingly in the edition there is an article by Paul Rapoport on a book by David Marr about Bill Henson the photographer. Bill Henson has been a controversial artist not because of any overt behavior but because of his subjects and how he portrays his subjects. The subjects… Continue

Dumbing Down Education
Dumbing Down is a wikipedia category. It even states that itself can be accused of contributing to the slide of dumbing down society. 'Dumbing down' by Dr Kevin Donnelly approaches the proposed Dumbing down phenomenon and states quite clearly that it is presently experienced across all Australian education systems.
The key issue is that education is now based on 'the process of learning' being promoted above 'content'. This concept 'Content free instruction' is where stu… Continue

It also requires similar disciplines and commitments associated with religious life.
The quote also has a lay heritage.

The arts industry still thinks that it has authoritative ownership over creativity and all things visual. Christopher Allen - National Art Critic – vents his pre-20th Century concepts of art and culture in an article “If teachers use such terms, run” The Weekend Australain 16-17 2008 p5. Has Christopher missed the boat or does he not recognise that this is the 21st Century?
The past glories when artists and the governors of artists (the rich and elite; the sponsors; the critics; the church and… Continue
